Tomic challenge 29

wow, time is passing my by so quickly and we have a new challenge for you on TOMIC "A symphony of snowflakes in Purple"
I gotta admit that i am just not a fan of purple, but i must say that stretching my limits seems to be quite good for me as i love how this image turned out in purple.
i also got to use a fair ammount of glittah on my snow which made me very happy, i can never get enough glittah!!  All my edges got the going over with craft paint that i added impasto paste to so that once dry it would lose its dimension and then added all my glittah in layers over the impasto.
Images:  Tilda with Fir tree, miscellaneous fir trees
inks:  copics and memento tuxedo black
all the punched out snow flakes are various ones that i have had in my stash forever
rhinestones also from the never ending stash, as is the ribbon.
have a great week

this fold is one i havent seen anyone else besides myself use and its called a dbl display you can find the template for it on my regular blog :HERE
my bff Barb sent me these darling little Christmas lights some time ago and they were also begging to be used.
i hope you like the card and give the dbl display a go, if you do decide to use the template pls link back to me

magic box

i havent really given my Maggie blog as much love and attention as i would like to, so i think that would make a good new years resolution once the new year comes around.
I decided to make this magic box that i first saw on my friend Barb's blog, boy i was awe struck, then she told me she had first seen it on Cabio's blog, sure you can figure that very few things are "ours" to claim we invented, this blogging bit is all about sharing knowledge and know how.
this box on a scale of 1>10 was about a 3, so dont be intimidated, try it.  The only thing that took me an age was coloring all the images and deciding what i was gonna put into it.
this is gonna be a present for an elderly friend of mine Jean, i am gonna fill it with flowers and flat backed pearls since i have an over abundance of both, she also crafts and celebrates Christmas so i am sure will appreciate the work and thought that went into this aswell as the little crafty treats i fill it with.
stamps:  Tilda with fir tree, Tilda with snowheart, winter Tilda dn something for you, star Tilda, Angel Tilda, sitting with glitter, vintage Tilda

punches and ie cuts:  nesties, ek success punch and a few miscellaneous flourishes
Other: lots of stickles, liquid applique, flower soft, flat backed pearls and garlands
Paper: MME and basil basics, cryogen white
have a great week

magnolia ornament

There is  a fab new challenge happening on MDUC to make a Xmas ornament and since this little project was made for the Magnolia magazine and didnt get published i thought i would share it here and enter their challenge.

i used foam board to make the base of the ornament to poke the bead pins in, making sure that i glued each one down as i went so they wouldnt fall out eventually.  i used loads of little pearls to indicate the snow falling around my images, lots of puff paint to imitate the fur on their winter coats and of course colored my images with my copics.
Images used:  snowy hugs and winter coat

Tomic challenge 19

A nice new easy cahllenge for those Magnolia fans on TOMIC this week, use a doohickey and a seated image on your creation.
I have decided to use Edwin with butterfly from the butterfly dreams collection for my card, i colored hime with copics and just totally enjoyed using an Edwin for a change, the poor dears are so neglected as we all go for girls first, but this time i had to play with this little darling.
My dear friend Barb made cards like this a few weeks ago and i loved the design of the circle folded in half to make a rocker card, so cased this idea from her.  Also those tiles that you see looking very much like scrabble pieces i actually downloaded and you can find out about them HERE
i used the flourish doohickey for my card, added some star brads that i inked to give them a more masculine feel, ribbon from my stash and some gauze from my medicine cabinet.
On the inside of my card i used another of the doohickeys a vintage tag and added some paint around the edges and a couple of butterflies to tie the whole lot together.
have a wonderful week

Tomic challenge 18

Happy Birthday Magnolia, and we are celebrating with another fab challenge Halloween and since we celebrating we would like to see anything but a card.

Boy did i have a hard time deciding what to do, we dont celebrate halloweeen in SA, and being Jewish we dont do halloween so i was kinda stumped.  I decided to make a pumpkin, and firstly the pumpkin i made when shown to my friend she said, wow! that sure is big, so i binned it and started again to make a smaller pumpkin, well this beauty you see took another four tries before it looked anything like the LARGE original.

I added lots of leaves and i made some twirly pipe cleaners that i dipped into some glittah.
And after deiciding to use the little Tilda with her broom, unfortunately i cant seem to find her name anywhere right now, i thought she kinda looked like little miss muffet so i made a spider using felt and some pipe cleaners, i had forgotten i had them, now i cant stop using them, lol.
And lastly with a led light inside to light the eye and nose features i cut into my pumpkin.

Enjoy the celebrations with us

Halloween card and a Happy new Year

its a halloween challenge on Magnolia-licious with a fab photo to inspire you:
As usual for me i took the photo literally and made a card to suit the theme:

I had seen someone silhouette their images before and stored the idea away in the recesses of my grey matter specifically for to do this silhouette for halloween when the time came, but do you think i remeber where i saw it?  If you have seen this before it is not my idea, i stole the idea, but i so still think it works really well for this theme.
I used a MS iron fence for the border around my images and a few flowers to hold the design together.
The image is  Brother and sister  Unfortunately i didnt have any halloween dp so made my own drawing spiders and webs and then made a web for the inside of my card also.

Do join us in our fortnight challenge and i look forward to seeing what you cleverly crafted people come up with.
To all my fellow Jewish peers, i would like to wish you all a Shana Tova vemetukah, A very sweet new year.

Tilda in summer rain

i really gotta say that i ummed and ahhed for quite a while before i decided what to do:
finally deciding on using  Tilda in summer rain
My dp is MME, i used my Magnolia dohh-hickey flourish which i must say is sadly not used enough, the little garlands are ones i made as i didnt have the right color to match my card.

all the flowers are from my stash, the dark turqoise ones i had to airbrush to get the color to match my project and that big Ass rhinestone i got recently in all colors, they just kinda spoke to the sparkly girl in me, lol.  The ribbon is one i bought ages ago thinking it would be great for Christmas projects, but worked for this too.

And a quick peek at the inside of my card

Faux pax, the other card

Now that you all have ahd a chance to look at my card for the Tomic challenge i thought i would post the one that i made when i got the challenge wrong, duh!
I'm not gonna go into too much detail as you can see the card is detailed enough and i am sure you all know by now that when you get me going you cant shut me up.  I will say this was a LOT of work.  I almost didnt have enough space for a patterned paper while i was doing it, had i known i was supposed to make my own background paper to start with i would have just stamped a few select flowers and perhaps some grass, but thats what you get for not paying attention.
on my first step: the back one i used:  butterfly background  and barefoot Tilda.  The butterfly background was masked and stamped twice so it would fit across the width of my card
on the middle step  i used:  Tilda with straw hat  and Spring tree
on the front step i used:  Explore Tilda  and kneeling Tilda
.
I also found a challenge that this card fits so am gonna enter into the challenge on Its a Magnolia challenge

Tomic challenge #14

time for a fab new challenge on TOMIC and this week its "Make your own background paper"
First though, i wanna share with you that i am someitmes or most times a bit dippy, i seem to get things wrong, or misinterpret things and then get it all wrong, so dippy here, when i read the dt specs for this week i just saw make your own background, so i made a triple easel that i was so pleased with, loaded long before the challenge was due.  Just as well someone on the team is on top of things and they pointed out that i had made the wrong thing for our challenge this week.  So i scuttled around like a headless chicken and came up with this instead:  i will share the card "faux par" later in the week.
For my card on the Tomic challenge this week i made my background paper using a stamp that has bubbles on it, made by a local company.  I stamped the bubbles with top boss, on white cardstock, embossed with an embossing powder that has a light shimmer to it, no name left on the bottle its really old.  I then used Adirondack die ink pad "name this color" to resist the embossed bubbles and voila!  i love my bubbly background paper.

colored my image "swimming Tilda" with copics, and found these bubbles that i bought at Hobby lobby last year and made a shaker around my image with clear micro beads in it.  I added pink dew drops around the frame of my shaker, a pearly flourish down the side of my card and some fluffy wool that to me resembled seaweed.  I added a few glass garlands into the mix of flowers and left the inside of my card pretty clean and simple, but you can really see the nice bubbly paper.

have a great week

Tomic challenge #12

Its a special challenge this week as Magnolia ink is also celbrating its birthday and the team were all challenged to "recycle."  I had forgotten all about this event when i recieved an email reminding me on Saturday evening.  I scurried around like a chicken without a head, my first thought was to do a Jam jar that i have had on hold to alter, but Murphy's law i couldnt find it as i have already packed up half my stash in the studio for the great move.

I was lucky however to stumble upon this treasure chest that i have a few of and decided that it would be great filled with bon bons for a friends brithday next month.
The girls on the Tomic Team have done a fabulous job altering all sorts, so do come and play this week as there is loads of inspiration.
Paper:  Magnolia: something old something new
Stamps:  Travelling Tilda, suitcase with sign, and many miscellaneaous from my stash
Embellishments:  Lock and key from stash
Flowers: WOC
all the bits and bobs from my stash too, and the lace is really old dont remember where it came from
Inks and coloring medium:  copics, memento rich cocoa and vintage photo

have a great week
