vintage trailer

Just wanted to share a fun project that i made which was inspired by Fabienne
A front view, where you can see two of my darling Magnolia's featured
I had to use the doohicky fence on the front too

the lantern was made cutting the Marianne die four times and the glueing them together and adding pearls

 A side view
 a view of the roof
 the back of the trailer
And the bird cage made cutting a memory box die iron gate four times and glueing them together.

I do hope you enjoy looking as much as i enjoyed making this

Christmas spotlight

i gotta tell you straight off my bloggy friends that this business of Christmas cards is wearing me a little thin.
However having said that i know that a few of my Christmas celebrating friends and family will be quite cross me being a card maker if i dont make the effort to make something for them.
So i am on a bender of making tags.  I saw the challenge on Moving along with the times to use a spotlight technique, which i havent done for a while, so here i am entering their challenge.  will list another couple at the end of my post.
of course the stamps from Magnolia Sweden, the background is the winter day background, i just strategically masked my Edwin on top of the house so you couldnt see it.
the papers are from Graphics 45
i gave my layers a good going over of Gesso which i gotta say i am loving, and then of course everything got the stickle treatment and loads of pearls, buttons and some jute twine.

challenge i am entering with this card:
Addicted to stamps: tags

what's in a name?

Apparently NOTHING! it doesnt matter that you spend years building a blog, if someone else spent a few months working on a conflicting blog with the same name, you can blow it through your butt.
It doesnt matter that i have worked my butt off trying to get my blog going and followers up, someone else worked hard to get a dt together, and a banner made, etc, etc.  So the bottom line is get over myself and live with it!  If the intent was not there when they chose a conflicting name for their blog, IT MAKES IT ALL OK!  Because the challenege blog looks proffesional, IT MAKES IT OK!
Well as sorry as they are that i am disgruntled, i am not sorry that i am having my say.
Do i wish them succes?  HELL YES
Magnolia's are a fabulous stamp range and i love them or i wouldnt be working for Magnolia Sweden, it just doesnt make me any more comfortable, when they say, "We didnt know about you, and chose the name before we heard about you"
What is the bottom line they say:  "BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT, WE ARE USING THE NAME, OUR BLOG IS PROFFESIONAL, WE HAVE A DT! AND BLOGGER SAID ITS OK!"
the fact that Magnolia Sweden sponsor my blog, makes not a difference in the world since they have their own sposors........... go figure

MY NAME GOT STOLEN!!!

Time for another one of my rants:  Yes i know i do this from time to time and i appreciate all your patience with me when having one of my rants, but this is just ludicrous.
We all of us as bloggers know how hard we work for the upkeep of our blogs and take tremendous pride in them even when we get busy with real life and our blogs take a bit of a back seat in the big scheme of things.  I started a Magnolia blog two years ago and called it Marvellous Maggies i gotta tell you i haggled over this name for quite some time before deciding on it, lo and behold if someone doesnt decide to call their challenge blog Marvellous Magnolia, now how close is that for comfort?  Really original wouldnt you say?
I really just wanted to have a little rant and ask those of you that read my blog how you would feel if your blog name was stolen reused?  Couldnt they come up with anything more original?  how do you stumble upon a name and decide well if i misspell marvellous and call it the full Magnolia name, is that acceptable?
Really i often wonder if this blogging lark is worth the trouble.  I have had my Marvellous Maggie blog since early 2011, and now this challenge blog has popped up in October 2012.
Good one! let me hear your thoughts
have a great weekend while i stew in my juices, lol

P:S:  the saddest thing is that there is nothing i can do about it besides for rant on my blog, since this is MY blog i can say what i like.
i find it hard to believe that the owner of the abovementioned challenge blog didnt know about my name since its been in the Magnolia Ink magazine for two years now and its been all over the Magnolia Sweden blogs etc

Christmas cards

Xmas cards for friends of mine who are gonna be celebrating Christmas at the end of the year.
Just so you know that i wsnt totally laying around idle here they are.
the first one i made i just felt i had to use these two newish cuties from the most recent kit, which came with the sentiment too
And i just love the white on white feel, however i wanted my images to pop!

For this card i having been leaning toward the kraft paper now for a while and i just love the way some of the crafters make the shabby chic cards look so easy even when i find it so challenging.
the Tree i made using a Marianne die, which i just cut four times and glued together so i would have a 3d tree to decorate.  This card was made for a specific friend who told me in no uncertain terms, she didnt want a snowy card for Xmas since its hot as Hades in SA at this time of year
the little lights on the tree were sent to me by my BFF sometime ago when i expressed an interest in them and couldnt find any in SA.  I have been so frugal with them in the hope that i dont run out of the little lights i think they great for this kinda card.  I used glittering Tilda and another of the images from the new stamp kit that i dont have a name for right now.
hope you enjoyed seeing what i have been up to

TOMIC challenge #57 dt

hi friends, we have a new challenge on TOMIC, this time around its "no character stamps + embossing and the sketch
i gotta say i quite enjoyed this challenge, as a challenge for me it was, i hardly ever make these kinda cards, but i knew i would need a wedding card soon, so thats what i made.
no excuses here, but i gotta say that the gold coloring looks much better irl.

i heat embossed the middle panel with gold embossing powder, something else that i havent done in ages, in fact i almost got rid of all the embossing powder and heat gun a little while ago

the background i used a couple of the old cuttlebug embossing folders for

enjoy

Halloween house

this house was featured in the latest Mag ink
you can see here that i switched on the LED light
i added cotton wool to the inside of the cauldron to make it appear as if it were smouldering
these spiders were made with felt and stuffing and then added micro beads to the legs and googly eyes
these spider webs were actually bought at one of those places that sells decor for halloween and the more you stretch the stuff the more spidery webby it becomes, i only found it after i had already added the gauze.
the little door wreath was also made by yours truly, lol

i just wanted to give you a few close up views

Autumn wheelbarrow

sharing another of those projects of mine that didnt make the grade.
this whole wheel barrow was made out of foam board and covered with a wood grain wall paper
the edges were all inked with chestnut roan cats eye chalk ink pad, a pearl for the centre of the wheel
Again i used acetate to make the butterflies hover over the wheel barrow.
I used Tilda in Autumn leaves inside the wheel barrow.

halloween lantern

i have been missing for so long now from my blog that i thought it high time that i just shared a few things.
this lantern was made for the Mag ink however didnt make the grade for the magazine so here it is here.

here you can see it with the LED light turned on inside

A close up of Tilda with pumpkin
for the top, i wanted my bats to look as if they were hovering so i attached the with acetate to the top of the lantern.
have a great weekend
